BSNL to roll out 60k mobile sites for 4G services in next 12-15 months

State-owned BSNL plans to roll out 60,000 mobile websites for 4G services throughout India for a quote expense of up to Rs 7,200 crore, a leading authorities of the company said on Wednesday. The company has currently set up 10,000 mobile websites for 4G service in choose cities of Kerala, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and prepares to trigger all of them within one and half month.

” In the first stage, we have plan to present 60,000 mobile websites for 4G services across India in the next 12-15 months. These sites will be rolled out in cities where penetration of 4G handset is high and BSNL has excellent customer base,” BSNL Chairman and Handling Director P K Purwar informed PTI.

The government on October 23 authorized revival bundle for BSNL and MTNL, that includes raising of Rs 15,000 crore sovereign bonds to fulfill the instant capital requirement of both the companies, 4G spectrum allocation worth Rs 20,140 crore, Rs 29,937 crore for VRS plan and Rs 3,674 crore for goods and services tax that will be imposed on allowance of radiowaves.

Telecom Secretary Anshu Prakash stated that BSNL and MTNL get relief from the fund that they will realise from the sovereign assurance bonds.

” BSNL has most affordable debt in the industry. It can raise capital from banks to money its capex requirement. Nevertheless, it will be decision of BSNL board on how they desire to do it,” Prakash said.

The spectrum for 4G services will be designated to both BSNL and MTNL within a month, he added.

” We will float tender for 4G network within two months,” Purwar stated.

MTNL operates just in Delhi and Mumbai, while BSNL runs in rest of the area in the country.

BSNL has been the just other operator along with Reliance Jio that gained mobile customers between October 2018 till July2019 According to the information released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, BSNL has fastest 3G network in the country.

The federal government has also chosen to combine both the state-owned telcom companies.

Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad stated the procedure will spend some time as MTNL is a listed entity and regulatory procedure need to be followed for delisting of shares.

On the other hand BSNL spokesperson Sanjay Sinha said the business has paid salary to all its employees for the month of September.

MTNL has plans to pay the income for August on October 24.
