It seems only fitting that the making of Fast & Furious Provides: Hobbs & Shaw would be a family affair.
In an unique behind-the-scenes featurette, Ata Johnson, mother of Dwayne Johnson, discusses her experience checking out the set for the movie’s climactic 3rd act– which is actioned in her household’s Samoan culture.
” His Samoan side is really strong because I kept it strong,” she states. “That’s why I get very emotional when I’m viewing these scenes, you understand?”
Dwayne Johnson seemed similarly thrilled to have her there. “Throughout the years, my mommy has been my most significant fan,” he gushed. “So it was such a happiness to have my mom on this particular set due to the fact that she knew that we were showcasing our culture and our island of Samoa.”
And, not for absolutely nothing, he’s delighted that the scene represents something relatively unusual for a big-budget blockbuster in2019
” You know, another cool aspect about Hobbs & Shaw is, I have actually waited my entire career to have fight scenes like this,” he states. “Raging and savage and primal– without guns.”
